An escape room is a live-action mystery game where teams of players collaborate to solve a series of puzzles and riddles. Using clues, hints, and strategy, they aim to complete the objectives within a set time. The puzzle adventure unfolds within an exciting fictional story set in a themed room. While players typically navigate through a few rooms during the experience, it primarily presents a mental challenge rather than a physical one. Popular among groups of friends, workplace team building, and families, Façade’s escape room games cater to ages 'tweens' and up, accommodating teams of 2 to 6 players. For those curious about how to play, check our FAQ for more details.
It’s a fun, exciting, mystery puzzle adventure game. Think Sherlock Holmes meets James Bond, in live action.
Teams of 2 to 6 players work together to solve a series of clues and puzzles to resolve a fictional story. Most games are set in 1 to 3 rooms, decorated to enhance the story. The story is usually a mission, mystery or some other urgent situation that teams are briefed on before they enter. When they enter the game, team members start searching for clues, and work together to try to complete the mission or solve the mystery.
Façade’s games are suited for teams of 2 to 6 players. The more players you have, the better your chance of completing your mission or solving your mystery, but the fewer clues and puzzles each player will personally get to do. Four is an ideal number.
Comfortable clothes. While this is not a physical game, you don’t want to be so dressed up that you can’t focus on your game. Some players find it fun to dress in theme with their game.
One of the great things about escape room games is that they cater for mixed age groups. Most games suit ages "tweens" and up.
Children younger than 10 years may find them a bit challenging but can still have a good time in am engaged mixed age group.
Children younger than 7 probably will really not engage with the game and we do not charge for children 7 and under.
All escape rooms use "exciting" stories but some are a little scary, so parents should enquire and make the judgement for their own child. Façade uses exciting stories but no monsters or jump scares.
For parents who are looking for child care while they play, babysits.com.au is a resource you can check into.
Escape rooms are about minds, not muscles. You'll never be moving furniture or anything else heavy, climbing on top of things, doing anything acrobatic, or otherwise physically more challenging than everyday activities.
Your inner sleuth and a sense of fun and adventure.
Detective’s Office difficulty rating is 3 / 5, so it’s the better choice for beginners. Sabotage is rated 5 / 5, so it’s the better choice for experienced players looking for a super tough challenge.
We can accomodate wheelchairs in our facility and in some of our games. Please contact us to discuss accommodations for your specific needs.
When you arrive at Façade, we will bring you to the Briefing Area for your introduction to your mission. In the Briefing Area, you will be given access to a locker where we will ask you to stow your bags, mobile phones, any cameras or recording devices, and any food or drink that you have with you for the duration of your game.
At Façade, you will have 60 minutes to attempt to complete your mission or solve the mystery.
No, you can come out at any time you need to; but it will disrupt your game, and may end it. Your Game Master will be monitoring you from the Control Room at all times. You can ask the GM for clues or help, and any time that you feel you need to leave, they will be happy to come and get you.
Maybe a little. It can get pretty exciting.
The “exit” door is locked, otherwise it wouldn’t be any fun to find the key. The door you came in is not locked and if you want to quit the game you can ask your GM to come and get you out at any time.
Excellent question! If you don’t complete your mission or solve your mystery on the first try and you want to try again, you can certainly do so – you can ask your GM how far you got through it to help you decide. Once you complete the mission or solve the mystery, you probably won’t have a lot of fun playing the same game again. But you can definitely come back to play Façade’s other game! Games will change over periodically, so if you keep in touch we’ll let you know when we have a new game for you to try!
No… that wouldn’t be very nice for future players.
Spontaneous games may occasionally be available – it never hurts to ask – but advance bookings are definitively suggested.
Yes! You can purchase gift vouchers online here or by phone and receive a printable pdf gift card, or you can come in person to purchase a paper gift voucher.

If you have a problem with your booking, please contact us ahead of time and we’ll try to accommodate you. If we are unable to fill your booked time slot, a cancellation fee may apply.
We don't have child care available on site, but refer you to Babysits.com.au as a resource for parents with young children who they'd prefer not to bring along with them.
Your team should arrive 10 – 15 minutes before your scheduled game time to allow time to get comfortable, in the mood, briefed and prepared.
If you have a problem with your booking, please contact us ahead of time and we’ll try to accommodate you. If we are unable to fill your booked time slot, a cancellation fee may apply. Otherwise, your game will end 60 minutes after its scheduled start time, so if you’re late it will unfortunately cut into your game time. So, it’s best to target to arrive 15 minutes early - this also gives you time to settle in, get comfortable and in the mood.
We ask our players not to photograph or video during you game.
If you need to be reachable for emergencies you're welcome to keep your phone with you - otherwise, we suggest that players silence and stow their phones in the provided lockers because the game is more fun when you're not getting notifications.
Sorry, to help you and future players enjoy the games fully, no food or drink are permitted in the games. There are loads of nice cafes and restaurants nearby and we’d definitely encourage you to save your appetite for a nice meal or snack before or after the game.
Escape room games are challenging enough without alcohol on board – you’ll need your wits about you! If you’re visibly intoxicated or disruptive, we may ask you to leave without a refund.
There’s a small parking lot at the Hay St end of the Peachtree Walk arcade, some timed public parking along Hay St and William St, and the Port Central multi story car park.
